CFF Châtelard-Barberine hydroelectricity museum

Understanding what lies hidden behind a dam.

Description

The SBB Châtelard-Barberine museum, in the SBB hydroelectricity plant at Châtelard Village, traces the history of the construction and operation of this site. The exhibits include pictures, various materials and period tools. The Barberine dam was built in 1925 and was submerged beneath the waters of the Emosson dam in 1973. 

Opening hours and charges

Visits are free but must be booked in advance (2 weeks' notice required).
